"Lady Felyna," Miranek inclined his head slightly in greeting. "Enjoying a pleasant walk?" he asked.
Felyna's smile could not be warmer as she walked outside the Hold on one of more and more infrequent sunny days. She had been thinking happily of how much Lord Enrizial had come to rely on her, and she'd even managed to get him to _almost_ flirt with her. The man remained out of her reach at the moment, but the signs were all good.
As the familiar voice of Miranek reached her, she turned her smile down a notch, more proper, and lowered her eyes and chin in greeting. "Good day to you, Master Miranek. I am indeed enjoying a walk, but a Lady could always use good company."
"So long as you don't mind my boys," the Healer pointed out his two some distance ahead. "They wanted to go to the falls, but my wife and I didn't think it safe to let them go alone. Valnek, our youngest can't swim too well yet."
Felyna smiled at that, charmed by younglings. She wanted some of her own. The next Heir to Emerald Falls, yes, that was it. Her grin was fierce. "No, not at all! I love the children. We spend most of our time with the fosterlings in the women's quarters, you know, but we do still see the Hold children occasionally."
She tilted her head curiously at him as they walked. "Going to teach him to swim today, then?"
"Possibly, if he wants to. I'd like him to get used to the water first."
"I wish, sometimes, that I knew how to swim." She said softly, then blushed as she realized what she'd said. "Oh! Forgive me, I quite forgot myself for a moment."
"You never learnt as a child?" asked Miranek politely.
Looking at him a moment, she shook her head hurriedly. "Never, Master Miranek. My father and mother taught me only things they thought a good pern Lady needed to know, and apparently swimming was not among them."
She smiled at him. "I have learned to appreciate the beauty of the Falls, though, since I came here, and completely understand your young Valnek's desires to visit them."
"I believe that living where we do now, he needs to know how. I'd hate for him, his brother or their friends to get into difficulty around the falls. I'd imagine young boys find them a great temptation."
"I think all people find them so, Master Miranek." She said gently, smiling as they arrived at the Falls. They were quite lovely and Felyna strolled to the calmer part, wanting to dip her feet in them, though she did not do so, considering she'd have to show off her legs to her companion. "Do you suppose its improper for me to want to learn to swim?" She asked wistfully, watching the play of the water along the rocks.
"Swimming is a very good form of exercise," said Miranek. "However, there is a time and a place for everything." As he said that, he noticed his son trying to attract his attention.
"Da!"
"Valnek, I was talking to Lady Felyna here. Don't interrupt."
"Sorry Da. Sorry Lady Feyna," the youngster mangled her name slightly in his hasty apology.
"What did you want?"
"Can we go in the water?"
"In the shallows only. Make sure your brother stays with you."
Felyna grinned down at Valnek, even winking at him behind his father's back. She did love the children that littered the Hold, and enjoyed the time she spent with them. If only she could have some of her own...
Her gaze strayed backed to the Hold involuntarily, and Lord Enrizial, before she smiled at Miranek. "They're wonderful boys. I think I will leave you to enjoy the Falls before someone tells your wife I was out here with you!"
"Please, don't leave on our account."
"I really shouldn't be out here along with you, Master Miranek. If Lord Enrizial sees, he may be cross with me."
"I understand." Miranek gave her a smile, aware that some would prefer a chaperone to be present.
"I have enjoyed our conversation, though, Master Miranek. Please pass my good wishes on to your wife, and enjoy the Falls with your sons."
The young woman looked wistfully at the boys playing, wishing for some of her own. Even a husband of her own!
"Of course I will. Perhaps you might care to join us for supper one evening?"
Felyna smiled, her eyes brightening. Perhaps Enrizial would be impressed with her settling into the former duties of his wife so easily. "Why, how kind of you!" She responded, and nodded. "I would be honored to join you for dinner. Just let me know when an evening is convenient for your wife, yes?"
"I'll send one of the boys with a message."
"Good day to you, Master Miranek." She smiled once more and started back to the Hold alone. "Thank you for the company." She added as she left the splashing, happy company of the boys and their father.
