N'klar

N'klar

}:I want a bath. Now!:{ Julerith complained, quite pathetically if you asked N'klar. The bluerider thumped his lifemate's shoulder from his spot, leaning against him for warmth, and laughed.

**Am I to jump to your bidding, then, oh great blue?**

}:Of course:{ Julerith said loftily, crooning in an impossible-to-resist manner.

Silly dragon. As if N'klar would _not_ leap to do his bidding in a moment if he needed _anything_.

As they coasted down to the weyrlake, N'klar spotted several likely greenriders and their lifemates, suitable for company on a sunny, if cold, day like today. Hmmm.

N'klar landed close to Aryn and her green Viyanth. They had been wounded in a Threadfall some time ago, and were still grounded, he thought idly. Or were they flying with the Queen's Wing? He could not remember.

"Hello there!" Aryn greeted the bluerider pair with a warm smile.
"Great day for a scrubbin', isn't it?"

N'klar grinned broadly at Aryn and shook his head 'no'. "Not if you ask ME! Only if you ask Julerith." He thumped the blue's shoulder, who was busily diving beneath the waves rinsing and, probably, playing.

"How are you two doing with your recovery, Aryn?" He dove through the waters to stand next to her while she scrubbed, waiting for Julerith to finish his splashing.

Aryn smiled up at the bluerider as he emerged, but her face clouded as she considered Viyanth's short-term prospects. "Well um... not as well as I'd hoped. Her tendon's still bothering her... it looks like we might be grounded again. But I'm going to learn how to make sure she heals thoroughly and well this time!"

"Oh, I'm sorry lovely. Grounded is never fun, hmm?" He said sympathetically and looped one arm companionably about her shoulders.
"She'll heal fine, Aryn. Dragons are wonderful healers, or so Julerith is always saying. Keep up with what the dragonhealers are saying and Julerith and I can swim with you anytime you like. I know swimming is very good for them, and wine is very good for their riders." He winked at her. A shiver took him as he stood next to her, and he crowded even closer. It was sharding cold!

**Hurry up, you great dirty thing. You may be warm but your rider is freezing!**

Aryn smiled, enjoying the warmth of N'klar's proximity and his gesture, even if it was partially motivated by the temperature.
Shells, he smelled great.

"I sure hope so! In the meantime it means plenty of swimming, so we'd love the company - thanks for the offer! It's funny though, I'm even starting to get used to this chill... though it's better if you keep moving." Not that she wanted to break away from his watery embrace... She looked up at his light smoky blue eyes, kind of like a wintery sky, but somehow warm and inviting instead of cool and distant. Suddenly she was quite toasty and tingly inside.

"You're right though, nothing warms like wine and good company.
Speaking of which... we're trying to get together a little celebration for my birthingday coming up soon. Do you have anything to do this restday eve? It would really add some sparkle to the party if you could come," she rushed on breathlessly. She blushed a little at her forwardness.

}:Sparkle, Aryn? You are such a flirt!:{ Viyanth rumbled teasingly.
}:This one does seem to engender sparks though.:{
**The rider or his dragon?** Aryn teased back, giggling. "We um, could probably also use some good advice from an expert such as yourself about choosing - and procuring - some good wines, if you'd have some preferences to share."

N'klar chuckled at her and kissed her cheek with a sudden movement.
He was quite charming - and he knew it - and he had no compunction about tumbling greenriders half his age. Dragonriders were mature as soon as their dragons Rose to mate or Chased, or so it had been in his experience. "I don't know about sparkle, lass, but warm, good company I can provide in any number of ways."

She flushed with pleasure at his teasing, and giggled again. Looking subtly sideways down through her lashes at a harmoniously-built arm and biting her lip, she didn't quite know what to say. His company was clearly enough to her something to be enjoyed, in various ways.
Ways which her brother would probably not approve of. Now why in Faranth's name did _he_ come up in her mind right now? Aryn pushed that line of thinking aside and followed instead the line of N'klar's finely cut jaw, past an impish ear, as it led back up to those curly, dark red-lashed mesmerizing eyes of his.

He returned her appraising look frankly, grinning all the while. "I should love to come to your party, Aryn. I am afraid, however, that I can only impart my stunning wine advice and selection choices in the privacy of my weyr. Secret of Vintners and all that, you know.." He winked again, teasing her while his lips twitched with supressed laughter. "Come up with me when we are done?" He asked, in a quieter tone, laden with suggestion. She did not have to do anything more than select wines, but the invitation was as irresistable to N'klar as Julerith's crooning.

"Ah, there's solid proof of those sparks I predicted, I can see them in your eyes!" Aryn teased back smoothly with a smile curving her lips. "Well, I asked you to impart your wisdom, how could I refuse such a luminous invitation?"

Julerith, listening in as usual, gave a watery snort, which N'klar grandly ignored. }:You do not sparkle. You are wet. And I want to be scrubbed.:{ Oh ho! It was fine for _Julerith_ to cozy up to females. But not his rider? Laughing, he let Aryn go long enough to pick up a scrub brush and said aloud, "Come closer then, dragon mine."

"Haha, jealous, is he?" Aryn laughed indulgently. "I'm not here to compete! But surely we can share..." Aryn moved to help N'klar scrub, but as he pulled her back towards him it was evident the warmth she generated - in more ways than one - was more valuable to him than her scrubbing this brisk afternoon.

With Julerith installed on his other side, Aryn to warm his back, the bluerider set to scrubbing with a gusto that supported his desire to escape cold water for much warmer places.. and events.
