When U'kaiah finally walked inside the weyr, silver necklace clutched in
one hand, Traelyn was awake and waiting for him, clad in only her long,
damp hair and one of his soft buttoned shirts. A smile spread across
her lips as she came towards him. "You found it! Shards, U'kaiah, I
can't believe it! And with all that snow to shift through..."
Completely ignoring the fact that he was dripping melting snow and ice,
she wrapped her arms tightly around him in a hug of gratitude. "Thank
you."
"It's all right," he said, putting his arms around her. Shards, she
was warm. "I think I'm getting you all wet," he smiled apologetically
as he released her. U'kaiah gently reached under her hair and carefully
reclasped the necklace around her neck.
An involuntary shiver ran up her spine as his callused fingers brushed
against her skin. Shards.... Her eyes closed. **Don't, Trae.
Don't...** Gently she leaned her forehead against his shoulder, fingers
tentatively brushing against the soaked folds of his shirt.
She had thought that she would be able to get herself under control
during the long soak in the bath. She had thought that she'd be able to
ignore the feelings thrumming through her. But she just sharding
couldn't ignore them anymore.
His hands rested on her shoulders as her arms around him tightened.
He could feel her heat radiating though his shirt everywhere their
bodies touched. The tip of his nose brushed against her temple.
Shards, she smelled good, like fresh scented sweet sand. "You know, I'm
still covered in snow..."
Lifting her head, she looked up into his eyes. "Then let's get you out
of your snow-covered shirt, hmm?" Knowing that she was playing with
fire--and not caring--she fingered the first button of his tunic before
slipping it out of the small hole.
The tone in her voice was certainly not motherly, or even sisterly, or
friendly. His eyes traveled from her smoky grey eyes to her delicate
fingers as they moved down to the second button. Swallowing to wet a
suddenly dry throat, his eyes rose to meet hers once more wondering what
was in her head.
Traelyn didn't look away from him, and it was a miracle that her fingers
weren't trembling to betray her nervousness, or her desire. Perhaps her
eyes did that instead. She could read the question on his face. And as
the tips of her fingers lightly brushed the chilled, bare skin peeking
through the widening V of his tunic, she vaguely wondered if her
expression
answered him.
U'kaiah was no fool. He had enough experience to know better than to
suppose she wasn't doing this on purpose. If he had any doubts, the
quickening of her breath confirmed it. She was back. That lusty,
passionate Trae he had met the night of the wine tasting. Shards... how
long had she felt like this and not told him?
Ignoring everything save the sensuality that suddenly flared within her,
she slid the last button out of its hole and traced her hands up the wet
cloth to his shoulders. A small smile touched the corners of her lips
as she slowly--very slowly--began to peel it from his skin.
His mind whirled as his body felt dawn to her. This was natural. This
was right. This was terrifying and thrilling all at the same time. He
hesitated only a moment before leaning forward, giving her easier access
and his silent consent. U'kaiah didn't know where they were going, but
shards, he knew they could not go back. It was obvious now. His
fingers slid down along her sides to wrap around her hips. This
was going to happen, either now, or later, but at some point or
another... Why not tonight?
The chill from his fingers seeped through the material of her shirt,
branding her skin. And shards...his eyes. She recognized that
look--willing surrender. She'd seen before, but not like this. And it
was U'kaiah... A thrill raced through her like lightning. **Don't pull
away,** she thought, bending her head to place a kiss on his shoulder.
Her hands gently pushed the rest of his shirt down his arms, as far as
it
would go until at last it hung there at the small of his back. Then she
wrapped her fingers around his wrists, pressing her body against his.
**Please
don't...**
**We should talk about this... We shouldn't rush into anything...**
But shards, how could he think rationally when that shirt she was
wearing was so thin, and obviously didn't keep her very warm. His arms
slipped around her back and he pulled her even closer, his lips brushing
across her temple. **We really should talk...**
Softly she kissed his neck. She could feel his pulse
thudding, and she very lightly pressed the tip of her tongue there,
smiling a little when she felt it speed up. Shards, but his skin was
like ice! Her fingertips danced up his arms to touch his bare chest,
wanting to warm him. "You're cold," she murmured, hands caressing.
He closed his eyes, finding it very hard to convince himself to ask her
to stop long enough to have a conversation. "Snow isn't known for its
warming properties."
"No, but furs are." Traelyn took one of his hands, linking her fingers
through his as she led him slowly towards the bed.
**Take it slow... Don't rush...** That voice was fading into the
background as he watched her slide across his bed and reach for his hand
to gently pull him down beside her. Shards, that shirt was practically
see-through... Not that he hadn't seen it all before, but he had never
wanted to see it
all so badly...
She heard the rustle of material as U'kaiah bent his arm, the wet shirt
finally sliding off of him unceremoniously to the floor. And as he drew
close to her, she couldn't help but remember what had happened between
them before, on this very bed, just days ago. Traelyn hadn't been as
nervous then as she was now, which was rather ironic, since they had
been doing more physically! But maybe that's _why_ she was
nervous...she couldn't
hide behind physical sensation. Every touch she gave him now was
charged with more than just sensual awareness, and every look they
exchanged was
clear, honest, and not clouded by alcohol and lust. But there was
desire there. Softly she traced her thumb over his lips. A shared
desire.
Leaning in, she kissed him. It was tender, and when he didn't resist,
the kiss became deeper, more heated. As her hand slid down his side,
she
could feel the icy chill of his flesh starting to finally melt away.
Shards,
she wanted his inhibitions to melt away too. And so her hands and lips
grew
bolder as they skimmed over his warming skin, coaxing him.
Whispers of caution were being drowned out as his fingers slid along the
fabric at the small of her back, slowly bunching the shirt until he
could touch skin. Soft, silky skin. His jaw tightened as her lips
slowly worked their way along his collarbone, touching him in new and
exciting ways. U'kaiah whispered her name, quietly encouraging her to
keep going. There was still that hint of confusion in the back of his
mind, but the way her fingers traced is ribs, tickling and teasing,
shards... He just didn't care.
Something inside of her crowed in triumph as he responded to her with
the same amount of desire that she was showing him. With a soft growl,
she bit him lightly on the shoulder, almost possessively, as one smooth
leg slid
over his hip.
**Don't rush... Don't rush...** Shards, that little voice was getting
really annoying! It was all happening so fast, and the
consequences could be so life altering... But it was hard to slow down
when his fingers curled around the back of her knee and he pulled her
closer. Still, that voice was not going away.
Rubbing her cheek along his shoulder, she closed her eyes, letting her
body lead her. It felt so right... One hand drifted from his shoulder
to his chest, brushing even further down his stomach, lingering
tantalizingly just beneath his belly button to softly, deftly finger the
trail of tender skin there.
He swallowed hard. Shards, this was really happening. His muscles
bunched under her fingertips. As they moved teasingly lower,
curling through the line of hair under his naval, the alarms started
screaming in his head. His fingers reached down to cover hers, stopping
their progress before they could continue further along their intended
path. "Scorch it," he breathed, frustrated on so many levels. "Trae...
we need to talk."
