Kiala trotted over to the Weyrlingmaster's office and stepped in. She
had been given some documents that needed to be delivered to the
Weyrlingmaster and wanted to make sure she got them there quickly.
"Hello Weyrlingmaster T'mahl? Are you in here?"

"Yes, come in," T'mahl motioned with his hand as he finished scanning
the latest report on his weyrling assistants. It looked like P'lane was
ready to join the wings. If another gold didn't rise soon, all his
experienced assistants would be graduated. Sighing he looked up at the
young woman. "What is it?"

"Hello Weyrlingmaster. Sorry to disturb you sir. It's just I was given
this paperwork to give to you," Kiala replied, while carefully handing
them over. "I was told you would need them sooner rather than later."

"Ah, yes, thank you," he muttered, and then glanced up at the young
woman. "Ah, Kiala. Please have a seat. Do you have a moment?"

"Of course sir," Kiala said as she took a seat in the chair sitting
across from him at his desk. "Is everything okay?"

"Yes, it's just fine. I would just like to have a little chat. I
believe you have been at the Weyr a while now, haven't you?" he asked as
he set his hidework aside.

"Yes sir. It's been a few turns now. I've stood at quite a few
Hatchings too, without any luck unfortunately," Kiala replied and folded
her hands in her lap. She was a bit upset that a dragon had not picked
her yet, however, she didn't want the Weyrlingmaster to see. She
started twisting her hands, afraid the Weyrlingmaster was going to
deliver bad news.

"Well, sometimes these things just take time," T"mahl reassured her. He
couldn't claim to know how she felt, being that he had Impressed Uluruth
at his first Hatching, but he had known several candidates who had not
Impressed for Turns. "You just have to keep trying."

"I understand. And I'm patient too. I just know my time's coming to an
end and I really think there's a dragon out there for me. Like you said
though, chin up and keep trying." Kiala smiled at T'mahl so he would
understand she wasn't upset and she was not going to give up that
easily! "My thought is, if you want something bad enough, you'll work
hard for it and any difficulties in acquiring that something will only
make it more valuable. At least, that's the idea."

"I wouldn't exactly start counting down the minutes just yet, Kiala.
You still have a couple Turns to go." He certainly didn't want her to
start thinking her possibilities were over at just ninteen! "But, that
does put to mind what I would like to speak to you about. Since we
haven't had a Hatching for quite some time, we are in negotiations with
Dolphin Cove and River Bluff to see if we might not be able to loan some
of our Candidates to them for their upcoming Hatching. Your name came
up as one of them."

"Thanks, I appreciate your kind words," Kiala said as she smiled at him.
"And I would certainly like to be considered as a move. It might be a
bit hard, leaving all my friends behind here, but I'm open to change.
If I were to Impress, though, would I stay at that Weyr until I finished
weyrlinghood or would I stay there permanently?"

"The way it would work would be that you would be 'loaned' to the other
Weyr for about a sevenday leading up to the Hatching. If you do not
Impress, you would be brought back to Dragonsfall, and then loaned again
for the next Hatching after that and so on until our own queens begin
producing again. However, if you Impressed at one of those Weyrs, you
would stay there. That is not to say, of course, that you could never
return to Dragonsfall one day if you chose, but your Weyrling training
and first wing assignment will be at the Weyr you Impress at. You would
have to request a transfer in the future in order to return here."

Kiala nodded. "That makes sense. I'll gladly do that, if only to make
sure that nothing happens to the eggs and we don't end up with an
unImpressed dragon."

Luckily those incidents were rare nowadays. However T'mahl could still
remember dying dragonets on the Sands. "It would certainly increase
your chances to Impress. I cannot guarentee how long it will be before
the next gold rises at Dragonsfall."

"Well sir, I can frankly say I'm interested and would love the
opportunity to try a new place. And I'm glad I'm being given the
opportunity to try a new place. Hopefully I'll be able to help the
Weyrs out. Will I go to Dolphin Cove first and then over to River
Bluff, providing I don't Impress at Dolphin Cover first, of course,"
Kiala said, crossing her legs and leaning back in the chair.

"Of course," T'mahl nodded. She seemed to just make herself at home
rather easily. The Weyrlingmaster was both annoyed by and admired that
quality. He wished he could relax in a stranger's presence so easily.
"Yes, well, have you any questions?"

"No, I think you've covered everything I need to know. At this point,
I'll just wait for someone to come get me for the Hatching correct?
Will the Dolphin Cove Hatching take place here or will the Weyrwoman
transfer back to Dolphin Cove?"

"The Eggs will be moved to Dolphin Cove. I assume the Candidates will
be transported along with them, but I cannot say for sure. The details
are not finalized." It did seem the logical time, though. "We will
inform you when we know for sure."

"Okay, that sounds good. Well, thank you for taking the time to see me.
I really appreciate it," Kiala replied.
