Well, Leaf had her fun... And now Birigundi had his... And Faranth's
shells, but it felt wonderful! "Shards, I hope your fostermother is
having fun with Lyndi, 'cause I'm not gonna be able to move for a while."
"And you think I can?" she asked with an embarrassed, pleased grin, words
muffled against his body. Shards...if this was what a firelizard mating
flight felt like, what would a true dragon's be like? She shuddered
against his body at the very thought, arms tightening slightly around his
back.
"I hope not," he chuckled, reaching up smooth back her hair so it would
stop tickling his chin. "I really should get something nice for the girl
who's covering your shift for you."
Nialyn didn't really want to talk about other women right now. "I'll do
it. It's me she's covering for anyway." Playfully she poked his chest.
"Not you." And shards, it hadn't exactly been a secret as to why she'd
had to leave in such a hurry. When she'd thrust her apron into Fairien's
arms, the older girl had known. Nialyn knew her flushed face had given
her away.
"I don't know, I owe her. She saved my life!" he said dramatically,
reaching for the finger and bringing it up to his lips. "I would have
died if I couldn't get you alone right then!"
She couldn't help the small, rather smug smile that spread across her lips
at that. Nialyn had to admit that knowing that he'd wanted _her_ to share
his flight lust with... Well, it certainly was a lovely boost to her
feminine vanity, not to mention her self-esteem. "I'm just glad you were
able to make it to the bed," she blushed.
"Well, Leaf is just a flit. I did have control of myself. But you were
making it rather hard to _want_ to control myself," he grinned, wrapping
his arms around her.
Her smug smile grew into a smug grin as she met his eyes, shifting
suddenly so that he was lying on his back with her above him, blonde hair
sliding down her pale shoulders to brush his cheeks. "You sure you're not
just saying that to flatter me?" she teased, trailing a finger across his
chest.
Birigundi was surprised, but impressed, at her sudden burst of confidence.
His fingers wrapped around her hips as he looked up at her
appreciatively. "I'm just saying that because I hope you'll do it
again..."
She slipped her fingers through his. "You mean let you come to me when
Leaf rises?"
"Shards, I hope I don't have to wait that long," he chuckled. "She only
rises once every few months or so. I was thinking a little more often
than that. A _lot_ more often than that."
Well, she'd only been angling for him to say that for _sevendays_...
Blushing, she tossed her hair over her shoulder. "I'm here now."
"Oh shells, I know it." Birigundi's hands slipped to her back and began
tracing her spine. "And shards, Nia, you are so beautiful."
Her blue eyes flickered to his as another pleased smile curved her lips
again. Nialyn reached out, gently tracing a fingertip over his cheek.
"You're awfully sweet, Biri."
His face turned a bit more sober, just a bit more serious. "Well, I like
you an awful lot."
Swallowing thickly, she closed her eyes for a moment, hands tightening
over his. It wasn't often when he told her he liked her. Of course, she
knew he did because of the way he would look at her, or the different ways
he would touch her, but to actually _hear_ it... It was just so much more
meaningful. "I like you an awful lot too," she whispered, leaning down to
kiss him. "An awful lot."
To tell the truth, Birigundi rarely ever heard those words from a woman,
least, not in the sense she was meaning. Sure, they would tell him they
liked him because they wanted to get into bed with him, they may even say
them more than once, but none of them meant it the way Nia did. Nia knew
him, not just from parties and not just with his clothes off. She knew
him deep down under his skin. It was the same way he knew her. And to
hear those words from her lips, trusting them completely, trusting _her_
completely... No one said those words like Nia. "Can I stay tonight?"
Resting her head down on his chest, she nodded. "Yes. Please."
He wrapped his arms over her and just held her in silence for a while.
Finally he whispered, "How late do you think we can get away with for
picking up Lyndi?"
"Hmmm...." Smiling, she pressed a kiss to his neck. "I'd say at least
before late afternoon."
"What do you say we take a little nap then?" he murmured, running his
fingers through her hair.
"Sounds wonderful, Biri," she whispered, rubbing her cheek against him.
A knowing smile spread across his lips as he tucked her tenderly into the
crook of his arm. "This way we can save our strength for tonight." And
he was pretty sure they would need it too!
