N'call looked about the Dining Hall for an empty seat.
He spotted it mext to a greenrider he couldn't quite remember the name of. He sat down next to her and silently asked Haloth her name.
}: She is Sarian, Ryerth's rider.:{ Haloth supplied, he was good with names. N'call nodded and thanked his bronze.
"Hello Sarian, long time no see." He said happily.
Sarian smiled at her new dinner partner. "N'call.
You're looking as handsome as ever." Sarian never had problems remember names--at least not male names.
Despite himself N'call blushed. It wasn't often he heard that. "And your looking not to bad yourself." "Not too bad?" she echoed, putting on an pouty expression. "Is _that_ the best I get, after I spent all this time making myself beautiful for you?" N'call gulped. He actually gulped. N'call wished he had been alone so he could hit himself in the head with his stupididty. "I meant you looked _ravashing_." He tried to keep the slight note of self pity from creeping into his voice, succeeding for the most part.
Sarian rewarded him with a wide smile and a friendly nudge from her shoulder. "That sounds _so_ much better!"
"I'm _glad_ you liked it." He said back, finally calming down. He could do this. It wasn't so hard.
His relief made Sarian stifle a giggle. She'd forgotten how much fun shy men could be. "Now you should ask me how I'm spending my evening."
"And what is a _lovely_ lady like yourself doing this evening?" N'call asked, beggining to get the hang of this flirting thing. Of course, you could never be too forward with Sarian. Or, so he remembered.
Sarian held out her glass in obvious invitation for him to pour her more wine. "I'm just looking for someone to spend a quiet evening with."
**Quiet evening my ass.** "Oh really? Would you mind spending it with a humble bronzerider such as myself?"
He asked as he filled her glass, then his own.
"Why N'call! I'd love to!" Sarian raised her glass to him. "How sweet of you to ask!"
N'call raised his back. "I try." His grin was purely commical. It was so much easier to flirt when he knew he couldn't be turned away.
Sarian leaned closer and whispered to him conspiratorially. "And _now_ you should say 'Your weyr or mine?' because it is always polite to ask."
"But I had grand ideas of sweeping you off your feet and into my weyr." He said in a mock pout.
"Oh, well then!" Sarian pulled back and took a sip of her wine. "And what would you like to do, since we've determined we'll spend the evening together?" she asked brightly.
N'call sweeped her up into his arms and began to walk her off to his weyr. "I had thoughts of a romantic evening by glowlight or something. But why don't we just see where the evening, and the wine, take us?" He walked backwards into his weyr so that Sarian wouldn't get hit by the door.
Sarian smiled, feeling like a proud teacher whose student had just passed an important test of his knowledge. "I couldn't have said it better myself, N'call!"
