Daring fashion adventures

Writers: Bree, Kaysea
Date Posted: 8th April 2007

Characters: Kavlyn, Taia
Description: Kavlyn cheers Taia up after her rotten day in the fields.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 3, day 6 of Turn 4

Taia walked slowly towards the dining cavern. She didn't really _want_ to go inside, but Corder had insisted he wanted her to be in there tonight, instead of sitting in her quarters moping and mourning. She didn't understand why he wanted her around food tonight, just the thought of smelling roasting meats was enough to make her want to vomit, which was why she had left it so late. It was easier going for a walk while the meals were being served.

All she kept thinking was that right now, out in the far field there wasn't much left of Mealybones, if anything. He had been too big to bury as a whole and too much food to go to waste when there were hungry wherries flying around....it hadn't taken long for the carrion to arrive. She didn't want to think of that, and she had an idea that was the main reason Corder wanted her with others tonight, much as she was loathe.

"Hey, Taia!" Kavlyn caught up with her just before they reached the entrance to the dining cavern. "Haven't seen you around for a while! Where you been hiding, you gorgeous thing?"

Taia rolled her eyes, all she needed for the night was Kavlyn. She concentrated hard on not shaking her head, though the impulse was strong.
At any other time Kavlyn's company was fine, but tonight... but on reflection, maybe he was just what she needed - maybe?

"If I said hiding from you, would you believe me?" she asked, trying hard to put on a braver face than she was feeling.

Kavlyn laughed and slid an arm around her shoulders. "Not likely. Why would anyone hide from me?"

"Sorry Kavlyn, it's just been a long and tiring day, and I shouldn't be rude." Taia smiled warmly up at him. "I _need_ some cheering up..so what're you gonna do to help?"

"What did you have in mind?" he replied easily. "Dinner? Dancing? Daring fashion adventures? Something a little more naughty..." He wiggled his eyebrows.

Taia couldnl't help but laugh with him. "Oh Kav! What would I do with you to make me smile? Dinner - no thanks, I really couldn't face food tonight, but, - " she quirked an eyebrow at him, "..daring fashion adventures? That sounds intriguing.."

"Better than dinner any day!" He altered their direction and tugged her in the direction of his weyr. "What sort of adventure are you thinking? I'm thinking beautiful gowns..." **Short ones.**

She looked down at her own attire, straight from the fields she felt she was wearing a bag that was tied around her middle. The most unappealing, but sensible clothing for her work with animals. Her green trous were slightly stained around the hem, and there were slight dirt patches at the knee from where she had been kneeling down that afternoon.

When she had left the Weyr this morning it had been quite chilly, so she had donned her tunic on over the top of her long sleeved jerkin. By mid afternoon she had been tempted to remove the jerkin completely, but has resorted to just pushing the sleeves up as far towards the elbows as they would go. She had had a quick wash in the last stream she had crossed before entering the Weyr proper, enough to wash the dirt of her travels off; but she was as far from beautiful gowns as she could be.

Kavlyn didn't seem to notice that she hadn't replied. "You know how much I love to dress people up, Taia. You wouldn't ruin my fun now, would you?"

"Oh? Oh! Sorry Kavlyn, you .. " she was flummoxed for a moment, " - of course I know, why do you think I was speechless?" she grinned up at him.
"I was looking at what I was wearing, you are the only person I know, that can make me feel selfconscious, and under-dressed, even when I _am_ dressed nicely."

The tailor laughed. "Oh, sweetheart. I make _everyone_ feel under-dressed.
It's actually one of my major joys in life. But sometimes I find a woman so wonderful I want to dress her up, too." He flashed her a grin. "And tonight, my dear, that woman is you."

Taia rolled her eyes, "I don't have much choice, do I?" she laughed, "Ok, I'll let you have your wicked way with me." If she were really honest to both herself and Kavlyn, he was just the antidote she needed tonight. Her sorrow over Mealy was still there, but deep down inside her now, too tender to touch upon. Kavlyn's mischeivous grin, and his enthusiasm for his _project_ was infectious, and she couldn't keep the smile from her face.
"What do I have to do?"

"Just follow me," he said confidently as he steered them down the hallway that lead to his weyr. "I have plenty of beautiful things for you to try on."

"Lead the way!" her voice echoed down the hallway, but even to Taia it sounded happy, not forced, just - happy.
