Description: Sarian meets Jerroll when the Silver Sails comes in and offers him some entertainment.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 2, day 27 of Turn 4
After her dragon and sex, the thing Sarian liked most was gossip. She loved knowing what was going on at all times, and never got bored of it. Because of that, she knew three days before the Silver Sails docked at Dragonsfall that it had been spotted a few days out, and made plans to be there when it arrived. After all, she'd been friendly with the First Mate in the past, and it would be rude not to stop by to greet him.
The fact that he was just her type of man--and so rarely around to be enjoyed--just made it all the more important to make sure she didn't neglect her duty as a friend.
Striding down the dock, Jerroll spotted the greenrider. "Is this the welcoming committee?" he asked with a smile. "Only for you, handsome!" Grinning, she ducked past a dockhand and leaned up to slide her arms around his neck. "A man deserves a friendly welcome in every port, in my opinion."
"And I usually get one!" He bent to kiss her. Sarian surfaced from the kiss with a cheerful laugh. "Not surprising, considering the way you greet us! How long are you staying this time?" Hopefully long enough to get her fill. "A few days." Jerroll grinned. A few days with Sarian was a treat, and maybe he would find time to enjoy a few other ladies as well.
"Lucky me! Do I get to see your beautiful ship again?" She hoped so. It would satisfy her taste for adventure without bringing U'kaiah's newly regained desk into things. "Of course! But the Captain's quarters are off limits." And that bed was so nice . . .
"Well, that's certainly a shame..." The woman certainly had expensive taste in bedding, that was for sure! "I'm sure we can entertain ourselves somehow, though."
"If your heart is set on seeing the ship, there are several interesting places I could show you. Less comfortable, but more creative." He was glad he was still in good shape. A few years down the line there might be limits on his creativity. "Creativity is the spice of life," she replied warmly. "A little of that can make up for a surprising lack of comfort, in my opinion."
Jerroll wrapped an arm around her waist. "Then let's go see if we can find an empty part of the ship. It shouldn't be too hard considering how eager the crew is to enjoy their time at Dragonsfall."
She followed beside him willingly enough. "I heard you brought a brewer to open a new tavern at the Vintner Hall. What was he like?"
"Nice fellow. Seemed a good deal less hidebound than Fielton."
Sarian had never met the Hallmaster, but from everything she'd heard, that was probably a good thing. "I'm thinking I might hop over for a visit, now that the new Tavern is open. Seems like a fun idea, at least."
"Maybe we could both go?" he suggested. "He has rooms available to rent." The First Mate wiggled his brows.
"Oh _does_ he now?" Sarian arched an eyebrow at that. It was an interesting idea... though not interesting enough to distract her from her current plans. "Maybe after we finish touring your ship, Ryerth would be willing to take us over to have a look."
"You do love the idea of having fun on my ship, don't you?" Jerroll grinned and squeezed her to him for a second. "I think you would have made a good sailor."
Sarian shuddered. "Oh, no. I like the idea of your ship when it's nice and close to land, and I can get off any time. I'm not so sure how I'd feel about being trapped at sea." Ryerth had rather spoiled her for any other means of transportation, after all. "_Trapped_ at sea!" Jerroll laughed. "You make it sound so horrible."
"It is, if you've spent the last ten turns being able to go anywhere on Pern in the space of a few heartbeats!" She shook her head. "It sounds romantic and exciting, but I like my comforts too much." And her dragon. Living without Ryerth was unimaginable.
The First Mate nodded as they reached the ship. "I can see that. You have the sky, and I have the sea. Works out well for everyone."
"Mmmm... and since I'm going to show you how nice the sky is later on, maybe it's time for you to show me how nice the sea can be."
"I'll give you a full tour, and see which place you like best." The next few days were going to be very enjoyable.
