Lueanth came out of /between/ above the sun speckled cove. Cherlyn smiled as the sun hit her back.
}:The sun is much nicer here than at the Weyr.:{ Lueanth sighed as she settled to the sand. Cherlyn nodded, removing her flight clothes as fast as she could. Lueanth shook as soon as Cherlyn removed her harness and jumped into the sea. Cherlyn wasn't far behind.
They played together for a while, enjoying the lack of rain and the warm ocean. Cherlyn was resting on Lueanth's back, enjoying the sun, when Lueanth rumbled in her throat. Cherlyn sat up.
"What is it?" she asked, looking down at the ocean.
}:Dolphins tickling me.:{ Lueanth responded as the dolphins tickled her belly again. Cherlyn smiled and dove off her dragon into the water. Dolphin's gathered around her, squeeing at her welcome. They were a visiting pod who came to the cove from time to time, enjoying the visits from the rider and dragon.
Cherlyn rode on their fins and laughed at their antics, was shown the new calves, just enjoyed the day. Soon though, she was being prodded to shallower waters by round dolphin noses.
"What's wrong?" she asked them as she touched ground in the shallows, the water up to about her waist.
"Not tire." Said the pod leader.
"Not tire? Why would I be tired?" Cherlyn was generally confused. What could make her tired?
"Baby." The pod leader responded. The tone of that high pitched voice somehow giving the opinion that Cherlyn should know this already.
"Baby, what baby?" Now Cherlyn was worried. That brief thought of pregnancy had appeared since the flight, but she couldn't be, could she?
"Your baby." said another dolphin with a scar on his melon.
"My baby?" Cherlyn asked, pointing to her chest.
"Yes, Yes!" the pod responded, a few tail-walking in their excitement.
Cherlyn gasped, looking at her belly, a very surprised expression on her face. When she didn't speak for a moment, the pod leader tapped Cherlyn with her nose.
"'Kay?" she asked, turning one eye up to the human.
Cherlyn started, her head full of thoughts of this obvious impossibility. She shook her head.
"Yeah, yes I'm fine. But I think I should go."
Cherlyn began to wade slowly to the shore. The dolphins watched her for a moment, before leaping high in a farewell and leaving the cove.
Lueanth had moved to the shore to sun, forgoing the warm waters for the warmer sunshine. Cherlyn came out of the water and grabbed a towel. She dried off slowly, stopping often to touch her stomach.
**It's not possible.** She thought to herself, lifting her shirt to look at her flat stomach. **Is it?** She shrugged herself into her riding jacket and brought Lueanth's harness to her.
}:Did you have a good time?:{ Lueanth asked as she shook the harness down her neck.
"I'm not sure." Cherlyn told her dragon as she stepped onto Lueanth's offered forearm, and onto her neck. "But... maybe... we could fly home straight instead?"
