Scarce Game

Writers: Devin, Eimi
Date Posted: 13th August 2006

Characters: Zanen, Penryn
Description: Zanen has a meeting with Penryn and they discuss the recent feline attacks.
Location: Garnet Valley Hold
Date: month 13, day 2 of Turn 3

"Ah, Zanen," Penryn smiled as the hunter strode into his office. "Glad you could come. Do you want anything to drink? Tea? Klah? Juice?"

"Juice, please." Cold juice was a rarity on the road, and although it was easy to come by here, it still felt like a treat.

The Steward scrawled a quick note and sent Promise down to the kitchens.
The green flit had proved very willing to convey messages to the kitchens for him, especially since it meant she would be pampered with little treats by the staff.

"Please, have a seat. You must be tired," Penryn said with a welcome smile. "Did you just come in today?"

"Yeah. Came in this morning with the caravan," Zanen said as he took a seat. "I've already met Lady Miralani. Nice woman." If a bit too proper.

"How was hunting this season?" the Steward asked curiously.

"East of here, things're good, but around here game seems a bit scarce.
More scarce than other times I've been through, anyway," Zanen answered.
"Could have something to do with your feline problem."

"Oh? How so," Penryn asked curiously.

"If the felines don't have enough wild game to eat, they'll look for other food. And that means livestock," Zanen explained.

"Yes, that does sound familiar." That would explain a lot about why the felines were coming down all of a sudden. "Do you think could maybe talk with Lord Ishek about this? It might help us to understand what is happening if you share your expertise with us."

"Of course. I'd be happy to speak with him whenever he has the time."

"I would appreciate it. Any ideas would be helpful at this point. We've been rather lost as to what to do about this feline problem,"
Penryn admitted.

"I hope I can help you out. Maybe we can get this under control before things get worse." And before people started getting hurt.

"That's our hope. Though how we could accomplish that, if things are as bad as you say, I'm not so sure about."

"Well, once I meet with Lord Ishek maybe I can have someone take me around to the areas where there's trouble. If I can figure out just what's going on, then I'll do my best to find a way to stop it." He'd solved similar problems before, though not near a major Hold. Usually it was one or two animals causing the problem, but this looked like it might be more wide spread.

"Any advice can only help. I'll be sure to get you in to see Lord Ishek as soon as possible."

"Thank you, Penryn. I look forward to meeting him."
