With a soft sigh, Gleniel shifted closer to the dozing man beside her, feeling far too languid herself to do much else. But the afternoon was too beautiful to waste by sleeping through it--even though the quiet sounds of the stream nearby and the droning of the insects made her want to yawn and shut her eyes. The grass was soft on her skin as she tucked herself up against him, and affectionately she began to pull bits of leaves and flowers from his dark locks. Shards...Kiomo's hair was like silk under her fingers. "You awake?"
"Mmmhmmm," he hummed, tightening his arms around her, enjoying the feel of her. Kiomo didn't want to move, despite the small knot on the root he propped them up against that was digging into his back. It was more annoying than painful, and how could he be annoyed while Gleniel was pressed gently against him, dotted with sunshine that peeked through the leaves above.
"You've got leaves in your hair," she murmured, reaching for another one in the tangled strands.
"I'm sure I've got leaves and grass stuck in all manner of places," he chuckled softly. "And if I opened my eyes I bet I'd find some in your hair too."
Forgetting the leaves, she buried her hand in his hair and kissed the top of his shoulder. "And in other places..." Bringing his hand up, she ran it down her stomach so he could feel for himself.
That made him open his eyes. "Well, that's something I think we better do something about. Shall we wash all the grass off down in the pool?"
"If your willing to carry me down there?" She grinned sleepily at him when he turned his head to look at her.
"No, not really," he said, shaking his head lazily. "Besides, what's the point? We're just gonna get grass all over ourselves again when we come out." A knowing grin touched his lips.
"Regaining some strength are you?" Gleniel asked, blushing.
"Not yet. You can take a lot of me, you know," he said, leaning down to kiss the top of her head. Kiomo pulled her hand to his lips and began kissing each delicate finger. "How is it I was so lucky to be first to find you, hmmmm?"
She watched his lips touch her, and she swallowed thickly, an embarrassed smile curving her lips. "I don't know?"
"You know, you don't talk about yourself much," he said thoughtfully, resting her hand in his at the base of his neck. "Why is that?"
She shrugged a white shoulder. "There's not much to tell, really. I'm a simple girl living a simple life. I've never traveled out of this Territory--not like you have. In a way, I'm rather envious of you.
You've seen so many places I can only dream about."
"You'll see them someday," he murmured softly. "Is that your dream then? To travel? To see someplace new?"
"I guess so. I mean, we don't live in the most glamorous of spots, do we?" She chuckled a little. "I've never seen the ocean. And I think I'd like to, one day."
"Yes, I do miss the ocean sometimes," Kiomo said softly as his fingers lazily trailed up and down her arm. "I used to love to sit on the beach and listen to waves crashing up against it, especially right before a big storm. It's such a powerful sound."
"Did you ever see the clouds roll in? With the lightening and everything?" she asked, her voice hushed as she pictured the scene in her mind.
"Mmmhmmm." He could see it coming sometimes, rising over the sea, heading straight for him. The sun could be beating down on him, with just a slight breeze to hint at what was coming, and the black clouds on the horizon blocked out the sun and turned the blue sea grey as it crept closer. Shards, he did miss it. "You really should see it someday."
"If I can ever get out of here..."
"Well, hopefully I can make the wait between now and then bearable," he chuckled softly.
"You make lots of things bearable," she smiled, propping herself up on a forearm to look down at him.
He reached up to trail a finger down her jaw and softly tickle the edge of her smiling lips. "Hopefully more than just _bearable_..."
Grinning, she kissed that finger then leaned down to press her lips to his.
