Sazikoth didn't know where to go. It wasn't instinctual, really, not like the hum that reverberated through the entire Weyr that she found herself mimicking that morning. She followed the older, larger dragons badly, wobbling a little on the last downbeat of her wings before she landed in an awkward half-hop to avoid running into the blue landing next to her. The tunnel to the hatching grounds was long and awkward, and even stranger still to try and jostle the other, much larger dragons for a prime spot.

K'valas hadn't meant to stand so far back. Unlike Sazikoth, he hadn't been all that excited to be woken so early, and he was still in a half-asleep fog when he'd finally joined the crowd in the hatching stands.

A lot of the seats had already been taken. It was fine. He still didn't know a lot of weyrfolk, and he wouldn't be keen to watch Chioneth's clutch hatch with his classmates.

He didn't really want to be here, either. Memories of Sazikoth's hatching months prior were still too fresh in his memory, too new. He didn't want to be back here again so quickly. Aegaryn wanted him here, though, so here he was.

Sazikoth did not understand why he insisted on standing in the back. The whole Weyr was here. This was important! This was the moment!

}: You can't see anything!:{ She scolded him. She was already distracted, though, and barely even heard his stupid **I can see fine-** response. Because she had already found something better.

The Spot.

Claws scrabbled against stone as the tiny weyrling wedged herself between two adult greens. }: Move it. I want to see!:{ She insisted without apology.

She also didn't listen to Kiziolth calling }: Watch it, you little-:{ as Sazikoth scrambled underneath her and between the legs of a massive, monstrous gold.

}: You're in my way.:{ Sazikoth said blandly and she shoved her way around Galgaith, squeezing into the spot near her elbow.

Galgaith didn’t so much as shift her stance. The gold simply lowered her massive head a fraction, watching with mild curiosity as Sazikoth pushed in at her side. }: Hmm, no. :{ she rumbled finally. }: You are small. You made it through just fine. :{

}: Yeah I did! :{ Sazikoth said proudly, though still she pushed further into Galgaith's space to get the best vantage point. Oozed, really. Like a house-feline trying for the best seat.

---------

Sazikoth sent K'valas what she was seeing. Quick flashes or longer moments, disorienting and strange to suddenly be up above instead of below.

Her attention was only briefly caught on the first hatchling, a bronze that tumbled out and…sat there. K'valas felt her displeasure at the act. She wanted action! She wanted them to _do_ something. She was quick to look at the other eggs beginning to hatch. Sazikoth tracked them with quick, darting focus.

}: Pff. Look at that one.:{ She pointed out the blue that made an awkward beeline to his chosen rider. }: Why is he walking like that?:{

K'valas kept his expression serious. He did not point out how foolish all of them walked, no matter the size.

}: And ugh. Why are all the boys clustered around that stupid bronze? Oh, look- :{ She rumbled approvingly as Gorvagath pushed around Talarcheth to find his own rider. }: Yeah, show him! :{ She called.

K'valas hoped the dragonets couldn't actually hear her.

The second bronze to hatch caught her attention a little longer, delightedly so when he bowled over a row of silly white robes before colliding with his rider. Her snickering turned into a full-hearted delighted laugh when Ibranth and Zheverith crashed through the crowd and into their lifemates.

**You beast.** K'valas said, with no real bite.

Sazikoth preened.

Until That Bronze started to move. Not hurried, not uncertain. He knew exactly where he was going, Sazikoth realized with growing horror and no little rage. }: Not that one! :{ Sazikoth called. }: That one's the worst!:{

K'valas did not hear a reply, if the bronze heard her. Her own protests faded into the background as he watched that bronze finally make his way to Aegaryn.

Something like resignation settled hard in K'valas' gut. The next piece of the rest of their lives settling into place. He hadn't doubted for a moment that Aegaryn could Impress a bronze.

But certainty didn't make it easier.

Sazikoth's dislike didn't fade with the Impression. If anything, it sharpened, her earlier delight gone flat. She didn't laugh when another green snapped at her clutchsiblings, didn't bother with relaying any more opinions as more dragonets found their riders. Her attention stayed fixed, a simmering and stubborn glower, until Aegaryn and his bronze disappeared from the Sands and out of sight.

Only then did she pull back, her presence settling again against K'valas. Displeased. Mad.

She was _not_ going to be happy when she found out about the hatching feast.
