Not Her Decision. (2/2)

Writers: Roxanne
Date Posted: 15th June 2006

Characters: Knara, Ayrati
Description: Knara comes to see Ayrati and they discuss what to do about Ayrati's pregnancy.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 12, day 7 of Turn 3

"Why would you say that?" she asked curious as to what made her sister think that she would end a pregnancy.

"You just seem too into being a dragonrider to stop just to have another child. You have five of them already, isn't that enough? You're not a holder's wife anymore, you know."

"I know it very well. Faranth knows that I realize that I'm no longer living in a hold. I can't decide what I want to do about the pregnancy." she admited.

"There's only two choices, Ayrati. You either have it or you don't. what's so difficult about that?" Knara asked. She would never hesitate to go /between/ to end an unwanted pregnancy and thankfully hadn't had to do so yet. It just seemed like a simple decision to make. Ayrati had several children already and didn't need to have anymore in her opinion.

"It's a baby, Knara. _My_ baby and I don't know if I can just end it willingly."

"Honestly, do you really want to have another child?"

"No." Ayrati replied without hesitation.

Knara shook her head as she said, "Then there's no reason to go through with the pregnancy."

"I've gone /between/ since I've known about the pregnancy, so maybe it will take care of itself." Ayrati protested even though she knew that her little sister was right. She just did not want it to be her decision to end the pregnancy.

"Maybe, but wouldn't you rather make sure it aborts and not take the chance that it will survive?"

"I don't want to think about this anymore right now. Let's go do something." Ayrati said trying to keep from having to make a decision that she knew she would have to make sooner rather than later.

"Oh allright. The children wanted to go swimming, so why don't we ask Treadoryth to send da out to come with us. He's probably still working on the paperwork that he had on his desk earlier this afternoon." Knara suggested hoping her sister would make a decision one way or the other soon.

"That sounds like a good idea. I'll send Child with a note for Reyina and the children so they can meet us if you'll get Hydra to talk to Treadoryth." she said penning a quick note and sending it with her flit.

Knara nodded and spoke to Hydrazineth who passed the message along to the bronze. She had already been talking to him anyway. It would be good for their riders to get together and the bronze mentioned wanting to splash in the lake. It was very advantageous to have an indoor lake for bathing and swimming when it was too cold outside.
