Location: Dragonsfall Weyr

It had been a rather quiet evening as he had been holed up in his office trying to finish the mound of paperwork that he had neglected earlier in the sevenday. The paperwork was caught up on, his dragon was flirting with at least one female, his daughters were no doubt enjoying their lives, and here he was sitting all alone in his office. It wasn't that he had a lack of friends or lovers, but that he had simply been too busy to make time for them today.

**Treadoryth, would you like to go for a ride?** he asked his bronze curiously. They hadn't been flying simply for the joy of it in quite some time. It was time to remedy that and do something that he _wanted_ to do for a change. He didn't mind all the adminstrative tasks that came with being Weyrleader, but he had to remember to take some time to enjoy himself every now and then.

}:I would, but there's several very beautiful greens that I would be abandoning if we went flying.:{ the bronze replied.

**Another night, perhaps?** he responded deciding that he really didn't want to go flying tonight anyway. His stomach rumbled slightly reminding him that he hadn't eaten since after drills and that had been candlemarks ago.

He could hear the conversation Treadoryth was having with the greens and smiled. His dragon was quite a charmer and always had the company of greens now that he wasn't mated to the senior queen. The reminder that the Weyrleadership might not be his for much longer loomed in his mind again as it had been quite often lately. That reminder lead him to thoughts about what he would do if Treadoryth didn't catch Mnaiath when she rose to mate.

He could always go back to his post as Weyrlingmaster or perhaps rejoin one of the fighting wings. He wasn't sure that he could go back to simply being a wingrider after so long in leadership positions of one sort or another. He'd certainly have more time to spend with his family. Reyina was going to stand at the next hatching and she might even Impress. He wouls have three daughters who were dragonriders and no longer in need of his guidance. It wasn't like Reyina was the shy little girl that she had been only a few short turns ago. She was an independent young woman who knew what she wanted and wasn't afraid to go after it.

All of his daughters seemed to take after him in a lot of ways, but he could see their mother clearly in each of them. He had always known that there would come a day when all of his girls would be grown up, but he had never imagined that it would have come so soon. He had a lot of grandchildren, but he was still young enough to father another child or two. He would just have to wait and see how things ended up.

The voice of his bronze jarred him from his thoughts, }:Come swim with us, D'wrayt.:{ the bronze urged excitedly. He and the greens of his rider's hatchlings had decided that they should go swimming with their riders.

**With who?** the Weyrleader asked his interest heightened by the realization that the bronze had company.

}:Hydrazineth's rider, Kaezioluth's rider and the young ones.:{ the bronze replied hoping that D'wrayt would stop thinking and come join them. It was a clear evening and the cavern lake was nice and warm.

**I shall be there shortly.** D'wrayt replied. The girls may not need him anymore, but that didn't mean he didn't need them in his life. His family and friends made life outside of dragonriding worth living for and it was nice to be reminded of that fact every once and awhile.
