Yriadha

Yriadha

"And she's horrible. I get stuck in the kitchens all day,
'supervising'. Or I'm in the laundry, watching over and learning how
the drudges do it. The other Ladies get to go outside with the young
men during the day, but not me! Only if Lady Brina allows it! It's hot
and sticky in the laundry and kitchens all the time! Look at the state
of my gowns! They're close to being ruined! It's just not fair!"
Oufelle wailed at her maid on the promenade outside her room, unaware
that she was being watched from above.

Yriadha walked along the balcony, hands trailing over the stone as she
watched with a tight smile as the young Lady complained. Her hand
tightened momentarily on a loose stone. It would be so easy to simply
shove the stone right over the little twit's head. So very easy. Her
nose wrinkled with disdain as she released the stone and stepped away.
The guard standing watch on the turret and Bryvin's warning were more
than enough to keep her from doing just that.

The girl was given the worst duties true, but they were nothing more
than a Lady of her station would be expected to be competent in. And
she was no longer allowed to assist with creche duties. Brina had at
least done that much, not that it mattered. She had promptly pulled
Yavin from the creche, instead sending him to stay during the day with
her eldest daughter. Torinya was a fine mother and her young brood was
more than enough to keep Yavin company. Her daughter also appreciated
that Yriadha paid her for the service. Not much, but enough to make it
worth her while. It was a most satisfactory arrangement.

She scowled again as Oufelle wailed once more to her maid about the
unfairness of her duties and the state of her slippers. **She should
have been placed on the first ship out of the Hold.** Yriadha fumed
quietly with a sniff before turning away. **Count yourself lucky,
girl, that Bryvin values your father's good will.**

A flit appeared overhead, a scroll clutched tightly in its talons.
Lighting on the stone wall, Yriadha's smile remained thin. Fishing
through one of the many pockets of her gown, she brought out a small
piece of jerky and offered it, receiving the scroll in return.

"They are will be ready in one sevenday. Captain Dormin also sends
word that all is prepared for you" Her irritation was immediately
soothed. She glanced at Oufelle, sniffed again, and strode inside,
walking down the hallway to her own apartments. **Good. It's about
time.** Reminding herself to fetch Yavin that evening, she entered her
apartments, negligently throwing the scroll into the coals.

While it charred to ash, she sat at her desk, pulling out hides and
began to write.
