Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 10, day 19 of Turn 10
More and more people left as the night wore on. Half of those
remaining were singing and laughing, the rest were talking quietly or
not at all. Nearly everyone was drunk. It looked to be the same over
where the Azure Wing riders were gathered.
K'mai nudged T'lat. "Want to get out of here?"
"Yeah," T'lat looked at K'mai with sorrowful eyes.
"Should I just walk you back to your weyr or do you want company?"
K'mai wanted company but he could always find someone else. The
terrible thing about living in a Pass was that you soon learned that
everyone dealt with grief differently.
T'lat sighed a deep sigh. "I could use some company if you don't mind?"
K'mai put an arm around T'lat's shoulders. "I don't mind at all. Your
weyr or mine?"
T'lat thought about it a moment, "Mine," he said softly. That would
allow K'mai to leave when he wanted to without T'lat feeling like he
might have overstayed his welcome. He wasn't very experienced in
terms of... whatever this was, so he was just a little shy and he knew
part of that was just the overwhelming feelings of the day.
K'mai waved to the remaining riders and then walked with T'lat through
the darkened corridors to his weyr. When the door was closed behind
them, K'mai gently tilted T'lat's chin up. "I was hoping we could lose
ourselves for a little while, but if you want something else let me
know."
"No," he said softly. "Nothing else. Losing ourselves for a little
while seems like a great plan," and he leaned a little closer.
K'mai kissed him, starting soft before turning deep and demanding. His
body still remembered the recent flight they'd shared and how good it
had felt.
T'lat allowed the wave of K'mai's desire to flow over him and wash all
thought of grief from his mind. It wasn't long before he was fully
participating and drew the larger rider toward his bed.
Amid soft caresses and kisses they removed their clothes, and soon
they were skin to skin. They joined in passion, celebrating the fact
that they were still alive.
T'lat turned finally into K'mai's arms and rested his head on the
other riders shoulder. The tears were dried and they'd reaffirmed they
were alive so he smiled softly and kissed him. "Thank you," he said.
"My pleasure." K'mai returned the smile. "Would you like me to stay?"
He gently traced T'lat's cheek.
"Yes," T'lat said softly. It was quite comforting to have his arms
around another living breathing human being. Somehow it seemed to hold
the intense grief at bay for just a bit. "If you don't mind."
"Not at all." K'mai gave him a gentle kiss. He didn't want to be alone either.
"Thanks," T'lat whispered and slowly relaxed into sleep.
