Description: The tenacious Reyina decides to have lunch with the Weyrwoman.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 10, day 12 of Turn 3
Reyina saw the new Weyrwoman at a table that wasn't very crowded and decided
that she should be nice and say hello. She knew that it wasn't Corvera's
fault that Jaela was gone and they had to have a Weyrwoman to produce more
dragons. It would take some getting used to, however.
With a determined stride, the young candidate headed over to keep the
new goldrider company. "Hello, Weyrwoman. Can I sit with you?" she asked
politely.
Corvera looked up from the food in front of her and smiled warmly. "Of
course you may. What is your name?" She was already impressed by the
youth's courage.
"Reyina." she replied not sure if she should readily announce that she
was the Weyrleader's daughter. Sometimes it wasn't a good thing to be
known as the daughter of the Weyrleader, but this was her da's new work
partner, so it might be alright to let her know.
"It's a pleasure to meet you." She motioned for the girl to sit. "Are
you a Candidate or an apprentice here?"
"I'm going to be an apprentice harper soon and my da said that I can
stand at the next hatching now that I am twelve turns." she replied
excitedly. She was really looking forward to the next hatching as she
would finally get a chance to be the one on the sands instead of the stands.
"And what color are you hoping for, little lady? A gold like mine?"
Corvera enjoyed the girl's youthful enthusiasm.
"I'd be happy with a green, like my sisters. When I was little da said I
wanted to Impress a brown dragon. That's silly, though. Girls can't
impress a brown. A gold would be nice, but I know they are very special."
Corvera nodded in agreement. "I think you could impress a gold. Who are
your sisters? Are they still here in Dragonsfall?"
"Knara and Ayrati. They're both in Cyan wing since da leads Azure." she
said matter of factly. She didn't really understand why they wouldn't
want to be in their da's wing since he was the best Wingleader and
Weyrleader that she could remember.
Things clicked into place. D'wrayt lead Cyan Wing so this must be his
daughter. "Well then I'd hardly be surprised if you impressed a gold
with a lineage like yours."
"I'd be happy with a dragon, no matter the color." she replied with a
smile. She liked the new Weyrwoman and would be happy if her da was to
be the goldrider's Weyrleader.
"Of course." Corvera's thoughts drifted back to the day when she had
impressed Mnaiath. She sent Mnaiath a few loving thoughts before turning
her attention back to Reyina. "Well I wish you the best of luck!"
"Thank you! I hope that you like living here at Dragonsfall. Don't let
people's attitudes bother you, they'll get used to you being in charge, just
like they did when Da became Weyrleader." Reyina said as she gathered up her
empty plate and headed off towards the kitchens. She had kitchens duty this
afternoon and was looking forward to the chance to talk to some of the
cooks.
