D'wrayt sighed and closed his eyes for a moment after U'kaiah left his
office. He'd need to speak to S'rak about leading the wing temporarily.
Now would be as good as anytime. **Treadoryth, could you have Radeth
ask S'rak to meet me in my office. I need to discuss some thing
important with him.** he asked his bronze trying his best to keep the
tiredness out of his voice.
}:Of course, but couldn't it wait until tomorrow?:{ Treadoryth asked
hearing the barely masked tiredness in his rider's voice.
**I'd rather do it tonight.**
}:All right. Radeth, my rider requests the presence of yours in his
office. He says it is important.:{ Treadoryth informed the younger
bronze.
S'rak knocked on the Weyrleader's door and entered at the invitation.
"Yes sir? Radeth said that you wanted to speak with me about something
important?"
"I'm sure you've heard about N'vanik and U'kaiah's fight in the dining
hall by now?" D'wrayt asked wanting the wingsecond to have all the
information before he asked his question.
"Well, I've heard the dragon gossip from Radeth." he replied with a
shrug, "I don't really know enough people here yet to get details, but
I know they're both alright."
"U'kaiah has been temporarily relieved of his duties. I need you to
take over the wing until I figure out the best rider to lead while he
his away." D'wrayt said knowing that there were at least two
bronzeriders that he had in mind that should be able to keep the wing
together while U'kaiah was unable to lead. He just had to decide who
he wanted where and ask them. In the meantime he needed the Wingsecond
to take over.
"Of course sir." S'rak replied with a curt nod. 'Best rider to lead'?
Wasn't _he_ the obvious choice to take over the wing being wingsecond
_and_ a former wingleader. "I don't think threadfall will be a problem
tomorrow afternoon, U'kaiah runs his wing in much the same way I ran
mine back at Far Island." Just in case he needed reminding...
"Good. It's always hard if the wing runs differently."
He thought for a moment and then added, "I think I will take them up
for some drills first thing in the morning though. To work out any
kinks since I've been with them less than a sevenday. They'll still
have a few hours to rest before Threadfall."
That sounded like a good idea to D'wrayt. He nodded and said, "If
there's nothing else, I think that we've got everything in order for
now." He realized how tired he sounded and decided that he was going to
bed as soon as possible.
"Of course, Good night sir."
"Good night, S'rak." D'wrayt replied before returning his attention to
making a few last minute notations before he made himself go get some
sleep. Perhaps he would see if a certain healer was available to keep
him company. He had been turning to her more often than his other lady
friends as she could help him ease his worries with her wondrous hands.
