"So, do you have any plans for the Turn Over?" Aileyan asked, pouring them
wine and then sitting down, tucking her legs under her. Glass of wine, some
snacks and good friend, what a good way to spend an evening.

"Not yet," Demalia said as she took the glass. "I was wondering about going
to a gather, I heard there was going to be one at Emerald Falls, unless I
get a better offer here."

"Well, all major holds are supposed to throw a gather," Aileyan said. "Or
course, if I went to Emerald Falls hold, I could visit my father and
Merlish," she still thought Eilomar as her father, even if he wasn't
biologically speaking. But he had been there when she grew up.

"Maybe they'd look after their grandson for a while so you could go and
enjoy some of the dancing?" suggested Demalia,"I bet that your father tells
you he doesn't see enough of the little guy."

"Yes he does. And then he goes on about how many grandchildren his sister
has," Aileyan giggled. "Like me and my sister could match his sister's
seven."

"You'd never be able to fly fall if you were pregnant long enough to have
seven babies!" joked Demalia. "And can you imagine all the mess they'd
make?"

"Oh, my, I don't think there's weyr enough for them all," Aileyan said with
round eyes and laughed.

Demalia laughed too. "Maybe we just need to find a couple of nice men to
have some fun with and not worry about the babies part."

"Oh, yes, that would be wonderful. You think there are still nice, reliable
men around or are they all taken?" Aileyan's tone carried a bit of a
bitterness.

"Oh I think they exist, but only in Harper tales." It wasn't quite cynicism
in her voice, but the experiences of being a greenrider and the fact that
every so often you could wake up after a flight next to a man who didn't
want to be there could be a little unsettling at times.

"Yes, I'm afraid I grew up listening too many of those tales," Aileyan
sighed. Ednan, U'kaiah...couldn't she find a man that was hers alone?

"Unless we find them at that dance. Which means dressing up." Demalia
grinned. "I found the nicest blue tunic in the stores."

"I haven't even looked clothes yet. Maybe I can use some of my old ones.
Alter few bits and they're like new," Aileyan sighed.

"Maybe you could get something dyed a new colour?"

"Good idea," Aileyan said. All her prettiest dressed tended to remind her of
U'kaiah. Perhaps she should do something to all of them. Shake off the last
remains of him out of her.

"I bet the Headwoman will know someone who can help you with that."

"Yes, well, enough of that. Did you hear about Teseada?" Aileyan asked,
moving forwards to gossip.

"No,you heard something interesting?" Demalia looked interested.

"I heard she's pregnant," Aileyan said with conspiratory whisper. "The
advantages of being in Queen's wing," she winked.

"Really? Do you know who the father is?"

"Not for sure, but the bets are on Haloth's rider. He's caught Onnyth twice
in a row now," Aileyan replied.

"But it could be anyone, I mean wasn't she seeing a harper a while ago?"

"Yes, which is why no one is sure," Aileyan said.

"How long before L'cad starts a betting pool on the sex, the father and when
she'll have it?"

"I think he already did," Aileyan snorted. "Have you heard any juicy
gossip?"

"Only that Selabna got back to her weyr and found Da'bin with that new male
beastcrafter warming his furs. Apparently she tossed the both of them out
into the weyrbowl as they were dressed, or not as the case may be."

"At least she didn't join them like some of the greenriders I know would
have done," Aileyan said.

"I think it was the only way she could get their attention. They were a
little drunk, and a little too into each other."

"That's one way to get it. Bucket full of cold water would have worked too.
Well, it would had lef the bed wet," Aileyan sniggered.

Demalia joined in the laughter. "At least someone was getting some."

"Yeah," Aileyan sighed. It would be so nice to have someone permanently in
her life. After U'kaiah left, she had slept around for awhile until she grew
tired of it and stopped. It just wasn't her.

"Maybe that's it, we should go to the gather and dance until we find some
good guys."

"To Emerald Falls' Gather then," Aileyan toasted.
