Eirock

Eirock

Having waited patiently until Rhosyn had met with the Lord and Lady
and then walked in the gardens with Xeladrie, he managed to meet her
as she was heading in to change back into her riding gear. He held up
the carisak she'd left behind, offering up the object. "I was
disappointed to learn you'd not be staying the evening," he said,
finding that he really meant those words. Though it was only a brief
glimpse, he'd seen what an incredibly passionate woman she was that
night at the Seacraft Hall. An amazingly strong woman, yet with a
side that bespoke need as well. She intrigued him.

Turning and stopping, Rhosyn stepped back and considered the Steward.
She didn't know him that well but he seemed like an intelligent fellow and
he was attractive. He was single which meant no real problems on that front
like a wife coming to her door complaining. Besides, it couldn't hurt to know
just what the Hold was doing when she wanted to know, could it? Biting her
lower lip, the goldrider heard what he was saying and also heard the double
meaning. He wanted to repeat the experience-with her. Despite who she was,
he didn't seem to have a problem with the idea and it did boost her waning
confidence just a little. Not everyone was lining these days to jump
into her bed after all. **K'mai doesn't count.**

"Ah were you? Well...you have to remember my security and comfort is much
better at the Weyr. Besides, if even one person saw or heard anything here, it
would be over the entire territory by the morning. Would you be happy
with that?" Her reputation was what it was. No sense in bringing his
down with it.

He chuckled at that, seeing the irony of the role reversal. "Are you
protecting my good name, Weyrwoman?" he asked, his eyes dancing with
merriment, though he did actually stop and consider her words. He
could see no adverse ramifications, even if rumors were to spread. As
a man, and an unmarried one, such allegations were not likely to bring
much censure. His mind drifted to Sophque, but there was no
understanding between them. Would it bother her to hear he'd been
with Rhosyn?

Pushing the thought aside he continued his answer to the red-head in
front of him. "If the most damning act I can be accused of is choosing to
spend time with an attractive and daring woman, I think I will be doing well
indeed. Of course, as you say your security and comfort are paramount and
you arrived with no escort," he grinned. "I'd hate to be responsible for a wing
of dragons bearing down on the Hold demanding their Weyrwoman."

So he understood the risks and it didn't bother him. This was intriguing.
And it had been fun, after all. Rhosyn had decided to go back to her fun
days before she'd gone into motherhood. Nothing had been very fun since
then and she hadn't been happy as a result. "Does that mean you need a ride?"
That meant that everyone was going to see, after all.

"I suppose it does," he smiled. "If Orlaith is not opposed." Even for
a grown man the prospect of riding on a queen dragon was both
exhilarating and terrifying. Few were ever granted such a boon.

"Get your gear on and meet me behind the orchard in a half
candlemark." She needed to change herself but she could still keep
them from being seen as it was. He'd have to get his own way back
though. **This is sort of exciting-intrigue and sneaking about!**

Grinning, Eirock reached forward to tenderly caress her face before
offering a nod. "I'll be there."

He'd change quickly and send Talon off with a note saying he'd gone to
visit his sister and would be back the following morning so that he
wouldn't be missed. Okeira would be more than happy to give him a ride
home and wouldn't comment about how he'd arrived at the Weyr, at least
not to others. He was sure to get an earful from his little sister.

After changing and grabbing her carisak, Rhosyn took her leave from
the Hold, skipping through the trees. It wasn't dark yet, but it
wasn't light either. It was sunset. Sighing, she came to a stop and
then waited. A familiar large shadow quietly glided along then came to
a landing not far from her. Rhosyn walked closer, seeing the whirling
blue eyes and knowing her dragon was waiting. With one hand on
Orlaith's side, she turned and waited. **He better not be late.**

Just then Eirock materialized, having changed and sent Talon off with
messages. Approaching the pair, he'd be lying if he said the immense
queen didn't intimidate him. He bowed. "My duty to you, Orlaith," he
said before his eyes went to Rhosyn, taking in the tableau of the
petite Weyrwoman with one hand casually resting on the prodigious gold
dragon. Staged thus with the setting sun highlighting her coppery
hair she seemed to epitomize the indomitable spirit so often
associated with dragonriders. "You are well suited to such attire,
Rhosyn," he said appreciatively, noting how well her riding leathers
fit her feminine form.

"Aye well suiting has nothing to do with it when it means not freezing
your arse off." Seeing him, she began to mount up, using the straps to
drag herself up along with Orlaith's foreleg. It didn't take long with turns
of practice but then it was turn. The queen quietly waited but it was clear
she was watching him-this person that interested her rider so much.

Not nearly as practiced, Eirock's ascent was far more awkward but he
managed to seat himself behind the goldrider without too much of a
scuffle. After turns of planning and plotting to accomplish his goals
it was rather fun to do something spontaneous and he was very much
looking forward to spending more time with the Weyrwoman. As for the
clandestine nature of their departure, Eirock didn't give it much
thought as surreptitiousness had become second nature to the man.
Even when it wasn't necessary, he did not care to broadcast his
actions about, though he had been honest with Rhosyn in that rumors
would not particularly bother him. When he felt the dragon's muscles
bunch, he inhaled deeply preparing himself for the novel experience.

She turned around to make sure all the straps were secure and buckled
and then gave them a pull. Satisfied, Rhosyn faced forward again with her
helmet down and goggles on. She didn't feel the need to say hold on but
she did smile when Orlaith's great hindquarters released and sent them
headlong into the air. Not long after, her wings were unfurled and they
completed the ascent. Instead of admiring Sunstone's sunset for long, they
disappeared /between/ and in a few moments, came out above the Weyr.
