How to put a picture in the gallery (administrators)
When a picture for the gallery is received from a member, the first thing to do is check that it is suitable for the website. It should be viewable by people of all ages and appropriate to the setting of Triad Weyrs. It should also not be an obvious copy of artwork by anyone other than the member who submitted it unless written permission to use it is supplied.
Image Files
Three copies of the image will need to be uploaded to the website. There is a special folder for gallery images (images/gallery) - although pictures don't necessarily need to be placed here, it's a good idea to keep them all in one place! Persona pictures should go in the images/gallery/personas folder, and location maps in the images/gallery/locations folder.
The three copies should be:
* The original image (less than 1000x1000 pixels in size)
* A smaller image (less than 300x300 pixels in size)
* A "thumbnail" image, which must be 100x100 pixels in size. It's best to get this image by cutting out a 100x100 section of the original or smaller image rather than by distorting the original image to a square shape.
If the image is named "picture.jpg", the smaller image should be "picture_small.jpg" and the thumbnail should be "picture_thumb.jpg". They should all be placed in the same folder.
Entering Picture Details
Next, the picture details need to be entered into the website. To do this, click on the "Gallery" tab, choose the gallery to which the picture is to be added and then click the "Add New Picture" link at the top left of the screen.
The picture will need to be given a unique name and the dimensions of the original image need to be recorded. The filename should be given as if starting from the main folder (for example, for an image in the personas folder, a sample filename would be "images/gallery/personas/picture.gif").
If the picture has been drawn or created by a club member, you should choose their name from the "Owner" drop-down box. (This should be the name of the ARTIST, not necessarily that of the persona's owner). If the artist is not a member of Triad Weyrs, credit can be given in the picture description.
Adding Pictures to Profiles
Once this information has been submitted, the picture should be visible in the gallery!
It is possible to add pictures to location and persona profiles - just navigate to the required persona or location profile and click on the red tab marked "Picture" (for personas) or "Add Articles/Maps" (for locations). A select box should appear allowing you to choose pictures to add to the profile.
