Danrina caught a glimpse of a couple walking past her as she took in
the fresh air. The woman's round belly drew her eye as did their hands
entwined together and the look of love that passed between them.

Her hand slid down to her own belly. Her heart skipped a beat as a
smile drifted to her lips. She had news to share, but first she took a
few minutes to savor her own thoughts. She chuckled a bit as she
recalled how uncertain she had felt when she'd first told Bryvin she
was pregnant with Dalvina. Times had changed since then, yet her mind
drifted back to the day she'd learned she would first become a mother.

~~Begin Flashback~~

Her mind whirled with the news she had just learned. Catching her
breath, Danrina slid into a chair outside the healer's hall. Her mind
counting back the sevendays before.

Galrad had left after his customary visit just a little under two
sevendays ago. She'd already had some suspicious even before he'd
arrived, but now she knew for certain. She needed to find Bryvin, but
it was the middle of the day. Could she wait until evening and hope
tonight was a night he visited?

Maybe, if she was lucky, she'd find him after a walk through the
halls. It was unlikely, but a short walk might do her good and help
her to clear her mind.

Bryvin was with his Steward Kiomo and had just sent him off to check
something with the Orchard Manager when he decided to go to for a walk
himself. Captain jumped up from the rug to follow faithfully at his
heel. He was trotting down the stairs toward the entrance when he
caught sight of a lovely young woman. "Danrina," he called and
Captain trotted toward her with his tail wagging.

She whirled around, nearly losing her balance. She would know his
voice anywhere. Her heart hammered in her chest. She _had_ wanted to
find him to tell him the news, but now that she saw him she wasn't
sure _how_ she was going to do it.

"Bryvin," she said, her voice a bit more strained than usual. She was
holding back emotions and thoughts that she was afraid would be her
undoing if she let them go. What if he _wasn't_ happy with her news?
What if he didn't believe her when she told him it was his? Her
emotions were so strong they were hard to hide. She forced a smile to
her face, but uncertainty made it hard for that smile to reach her

"Are you alright," he asked suddenly concerned. "Captain," he signaled
the canine to return to his side and was promptly obeyed with a small

"Um," she paused, hedging what she should say. "Can we go somewhere
more," she looked around, "private to talk?" She had never felt this
nervous around Bryvin. She had never had such big news to tell him
before either.

He looked around and didn't see anyone but that wasn't to say there
were no ears in hearing distance. In a Hold this size there were
always people around. "Of course," he said mildly puzzled by her
obvious nerves. "Over here," he said and stepped into an office and
evicted the understeward sitting at the desk. Once the young man was
gone he sat on the edge of the desk and looked at her. "Is something

She fiddled with her hands. Danrina _never_ felt this nervous,
especially not around others. But Bryvin had always seen her true self
in ways not many others had ever seen. She opened her mouth, then
closed it. **Just get it over with,** she told herself.

Standing up straight and tall, she took a breath and just said it,
"I'm pregnant and I know it's yours." Now what would he say? Would he
be happy or not?

"That's wonderful," he surged off the desk and picked her up swinging
her around in a circle. He rained kisses down on her face. He hadn't
felt this kind of joy in recent memory. "Danrina," he practically
crowed his delight.

With his words and embrace all fear and worry washed away. She cried
happy tears and giggled with girlish laughter as he swung her around.
Wrapping her arms around his neck, she kissed his cheek. "I was
worried, but I know I shouldn't have been. Bryvin, we're having a
child! You do know it _has_ to be yours. The timing is all wrong for

"I believe you, sweetheart," he said. And it was mostly true. He
pretty much knew her courses and he'd been married long enough to a
woman who could barely tolerate him in her bed to be able to equate
the timing difference. "How are you feeling," he asked.

"I...I guess okay," Danrina replied, feeling her heart lift as she
knew now that all would be okay in the end. Bryvin wanted her child.
Bryvin was happy. Danrina felt his love wash over her and the unborn
babe she carried. She couldn't wait to see how her life would change
from now on.

~~End Flashback~~

As she stood, leaning on the one railing recalling that day that
seemed so long ago already, Danrina smiled. What would Bryvin say when
she shared her new news with him? This time there was no fear or
uncertainty on her part, just pure joy running through her whole
being. Biting her lip she tried to plan out how she would tell him.

He saw her out on the balcony and walked up behind her to wrap his
arms around her waist. "Hello sweetheart," he said in her ear. "How
was your day?"

She gasped in surprise as she turned to face him. "Oh, Bryvin. It was
a _wonderful_ day." She couldn't hide her smile as she stared into the
eyes of the man she adored.

"Yes," he said like a question lifting his brow. Wonderful was a good
thing and after the day he'd had, more like weeks really, he could use
something wonderful.

She smiled at him and couldn't hide a small giggle. She had been
dreaming of how she would tell him, but now that he was before her,
she was ready to burst with her news. Leaning up on her tiptoes she
whispered in his ear. "I'm pregnant!"

"That _is_ wonderful," he grinned at her. She was the only one who
brought him such simple and uncomplicated joy. He pulled her against
him and kissed the top of her head. Normally such a serious man he
felt like laughing as he hugged her.

She giggled a bit in joy. Her face beaming with happiness. "We are
going to have a baby again, Bryvin! I'm so excited!" **And this time
it will be different. Less secretive,** she thought to herself with
happiness. "Another babe of our own," she whispered, laying her head
against his chest with a happy sigh.

He gently stroked her hair. "You bring me joy," he said softly and
lifted her chin to give her a soft kiss.
