Reven and Arippa receive a much welcome gift from Arippa's uncle, Lord Zathris, in the form of two firelizard eggs. After much anticipation and waiting, the eggs hatch to reveal a bronze and green firelizard. Arippa names her new friend Peridot, and Reven names the bronze Keeper. Arippa and Reven hope that with the presence of a firelizard Reven will be safer than he was when he was last abducted and held at ransom.
